POLLS: Washington And Minnesota Face Contentious Marriage Votes | Two new SurveyUSA polls show contentious fights yet ahead on the issue of same-sex marriage in Washington and Minnesota, but the numbers may be outliers. In Minnesota, for example, SurveyUSA has the anti-gay amendment passing with 52 percent of the vote, even though a Public Policy Polling poll found it losing 49-43 just last month. The numbers in Washington show the referendum (Referendum 74) on marriage equality being approved, but by a slightly smaller margin than others have shown. In both states, the groups supporting equality have out-fundraised their opponents by wide margins, but now they have to spend their money in ways to support the momentum toward equality not reflected in these polls.
