The American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer continued his dangerous AIDS denialism claims on Saturday evening, highlighting a decades-old list of others who doubt that HIV causes AIDS. Fischer’s other anti-gay rhetoric has been shown to impact Republican leaders, but on this matter, he does not speak for all conservatives. Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN), a physician who has supported programs to fight AIDS in Africa, offered ThinkProgress this simple rebuttal to Fischer’s recent comments: “The AIDS virus has been definitively shown to be caused by HIV. This is not an opinion, it’s a fact.”
