Minneapolis-based Capella University, an online for-profit college, is the latest company to come out against Minnesota’s proposed constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. Capella said it “stands united in opposition” to the “freedom-limiting marriage amendment,” making it the first higher education institution to take a public position. CEO Kevin Gilligan expressed concern the measure would “have a negative impact on the ability of Minnesota companies to attract and retain talented employees.” Capella joins Thomson-Reuters, General Mills, and St. Jude Medical, who have also all spoken out against the amendment.
