POLL: Minnesota Voters Split On Marriage Inequality Amendment | A new poll from the Minneapolis Star Tribune shows a very close race for Minnesota’s proposed constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage, with 49 percent prepared to vote for it and 47 percent opposed. A plurality is not a victory, however, as 50 percent of the ballots must approve the measure, so all abstentions count as “No” votes. Despite the divided opinions on marriage, 68 percent of voters support civil unions for same-sex couples while only 23 percent oppose them.
