"Wisconsin University Denies In-State Tuition To Same-Sex Spouse"

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has used the state’s ban on same-sex marriage to deny in-state tuition rates to the same-sex spouse of a medical resident. In-state students annually pay $20,000 less in tuition costs, but the school denied Jorge Quintero the opportunity to benefit from his New York marriage to Dr. Robert Schneidewend. According to the couple, the university has offered various excuses for the decision and been generally unresponsive to their questions and concerns.
