CEO Abandons Jacksonville Over Defeated Nondiscrimination Policy

According to a letter submitted to the Florida Times-Union, a “multi-million dollar international company” passed on moving to Jacksonville, Florida after its CEO saw anti-gay animus in the newspaper. The city council was considering a nondiscrimination ordinance, and numerous citizens had submitted “letters and comments of hate” opposing the protections. When the bill failed to pass in August, the CEO determined the community would not be a “good fit” for the company, which is now investigating alternative cities.
