"Minnesota Church Denies Equality-Supporting Teen Confirmation And Communion"

Minnesota Catholic priest Rev. Gary LaMoine has denied a 17-year-old the rite of Catholic confirmation because the teen opposed the state’s marriage inequality amendment in a photo posted on Facebook. In addition, Lennon Cihak’s entire family is now prohibited from participating in Communion at the Church, which is the same one where Lennon’s mother was confirmed. The Cihaks are now worried if they’ll even be allowed to be buried with their other Catholic family members. Other members of Cihak’s class who “Liked” the photo were allowed to complete confirmation.

Update

According to Lennon’s mother, Bishop Michael Hoeppner informed her that Lennon could be confirmed if he stood before the church and denounced his support of same-sex marriage.
