The International Transgender Day of Remembrance is a time to mourn members of the trans community who’ve been lost to violence or mistreatment, but also a time to remember the important contributions trans people have made to society. The following video commemorates the 265 trans people that have been murdered across the globe this year — that we know of. GLAAD has also recognized today’s observance with a look at transgender characters that have changed film and television, as well as an infographic timeline (posted below) of transgender visibility.
