In a short decision issued Wednesday afternoon, the California Supreme Court said it would not hear the challenge to reinstate Proposition 8, dismissing the suit. This means that there is no longer any legal threat still on the table to try to shut down marriage equality in the state. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy similarly rejected a challenge filed at the federal level. The statewide enforcement of the injunction against Prop 8 will remain in place and same-sex marriages will continue without interruption.
