- Opponents of California’s new law protecting transgender students seem unlikely to meet their signature goal to challenge it with a referendum.

- A federal judge will has set a trial for June 9 to hear a suit challenging Pennsylvania’s law banning same-sex marriage.

- West Virginia’s Attorney General will defend that state’s marriage inequality law in federal court.

- The same-sex couples challenging Texas’ laws banning same-sex marriage have petitioned for immediate relief.

- The Hawaii lawmakers who voted against marriage equality have received a gift of coal, plus the message, “Your lifestyle choice of judging others and ignorance is very unfortunate.”

- Judge Vaughan Walker, who ruled against California’s Proposition 8, thinks conservatives threw a “Hail Mary” by trying to disqualify him for being gay after his ruling.

- A transgender man in the Southwest was able to keep his job as a massage therapist and have his identity recognized as he transitioned thanks to support from the Transgender Law Center.

- A lesbian couple received a cake from a bakery in Arlington, Virginia mocking their relationship, and the manager refused to apologize.

- A storeowner in Paris Tennessee was attacked, robbed, and had the word “fag” written on his forehead.

- A 52 percent majority of Mexicans support marriage equality.
