Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) is slated to jump into the 2012 presidential waters with an announcement this weekend in South Carolina. This morning, MSNBC’s Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough — a former Republican member of Congress — contemplated the personality of Perry to question whether that’s really what America wants in 2012. “Maybe I’ve got a total blind spot on guys that look like Josh Brolin imitating George W. Bush,” he said, referencing Oliver Stone’s not-so-flattering film W.
Scarborough also mocked Perry’s recent religious forays, noting “he had this prayer get-together in Texas because, of course, we know that Jesus said that when you pray, go to the largest auditorium as possible and let people take images of you praying so they will think you’re a holy man.” Jesus “never said shoot guns on the campaign trail,” he added, jabbing Perry for bragging about killing a coyote last year: “Jesus never shot a coyote in Reno just to watch him die.” Watch it:
