House falls short of votes to overturn Bush’s Iraq veto.

MSNBC reports: “By a vote of 222-203, U.S. House fails to overturn Bush’s veto of Iraq bill.”

UPDATE: Seven Democrats broke rank and voted to uphold Bush’s veto: John Barrow (GA), Dan Boren, (OK), Lincoln Davis (TN), Jim Marshall (GA), Jim Matheson (UT), Michael McNulty (NY), and Gene Taylor (MS)

UPDATE II: Democrats Barbara Lee (CA), John Lewis (GA), Michael Michaud (ME), Maxine Waters (CA), and Lynn Woolsey (CA) voted against the original bill, but voted to override Bush’s veto. Democrat Pete Stark (CA) voted “present” during the original vote, but also joined the the override vote today, as did Jim Costa (CA) who initially abstained.

UPDATE III: Two Republicans broke rank and voted to override Bush’s veto: Wayne Gilchrest (MD) and Walter Jones (NC).
