Feingold-Reid Iraq bill gets 29 votes.

The bill would have required President Bush to begin safely redeploying U.S. troops from Iraq 120 days from enactment and would have ended funding for the war, effective March 31, 2008. The Senate defeated the measure in 29-67 vote.

UPDATE: Greg Sargent writes the vote “helped further the gradual strengthening of the hand of progressives in both chambers.”
