Lobbyist-turned-Bush nominee withdraws.

“President Bush’s pick to head the Consumer Product Safety Commission withdrew his nomination Wednesday amid strong opposition from some Senate Democrats.” Michael Baroody, a senior lobbyist at the National Association of Manufacturers, was set to receive an “extraordinary” $150,000 “departing payment” from the association before taking his government job.
