A spokeswoman for Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA) announced this morning that the 80-year old chairman of the House Foreign Relations Committee, the “only survivor of the Holocaust to serve in Congress,” has passed away. Last month, Lantos announced that he would not be seeking re-election because he had been diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus.
