"Rove: ‘Thank God’ Bush invaded Iraq."
Yesterday in Vancouver, Karl Rove “acknowledged that Bush is a very unpopular president, partly because of the Iraq war,” but emphasized that Americans should be happy that Bush invaded Iraq:
“But I think that people will look back at the Iraq war and say ‘Thank God, he had the courage to do what he did.’ I think we’re seeing the emergence of a potentially stable democracy in the heart of the Middle East.” He disputed a reporter’s reference to the war becoming a quagmire. “The military is succeeding, the violence is down.”
Earlier this month, Vice President Cheney made similar conclusions about Bush’s presidency, saying, “You’re damn right I would” support Bush’s decisions again.
