Today, Connecticut State Rep. Jason Bartlett (D) publicly announced that he is gay, becoming the “first and only openly LGBT African American state legislator.”
UPDATE: Gordon Fox, the Majority Leader in the Rhode Island State House of Representatives and “son of an Irish father and a Cape Verdean mother,” is also openly gay and “calls himself black.”
