Hutchinson: Iraq bill ‘puts a bullet in hearts’ of troops.

Yesterday, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) — who is being suggested as a possible running mate for John McCain — said that Sen. Russ Feingold’s bill to begin an Iraq withdrawal within 120 days puts “a bullet right in the hearts of our troops who are there.” Politico reports that Hutchinson’s staff backtracked from her comment, arguing that she meant to say “bull’s eye.” Accepting that claim, Hutchinson meant to say Feingold’s bill puts a “bulls’ eye in the hearts of our troops,” a statement which makes no sense.
