Americans who don’t know that the number of U.S. troop deaths in Iraq is near 4,000, according to a new Pew Research Center poll. Nearly half put the tally far lower, near 3,000. As of today, the Department of Defense has confirmed the deaths of 3,973 U.S. soldiers.
