As Media Matters points out, McCain sought and embraced the endorsement of San Antonio Pastor John Hagee, who claimed Hurricane Katrina was God’s judgment on New Orleans for hosting a gay pride parade. Ohio Pastor Rod Parsely, who McCain has called a “spiritual guide” on the campaign trail, claims that same-sex marriage is a “brutal attack from the forces of darkness.”
