The State Department has announced that Ann Barrett, the deputy assistant secretary responsible for overseeing passport services, is stepping down. Her resignation comes “two weeks after the agency said files of the three presidential candidates had been improperly accessed,” although the State Department refused “to link her departure to the uproar.”
