Palin repeats Bridge to Nowhere lie.

Today at a rally with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in Ohio, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) once again repeated the lie that she opposed the infamous Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska:

You’re going to hear a lot about the abusive practice of earmarks in Congress from our good senator here. We championed, in Alaska, the reform of the old earmark process. I told Congress, “Thanks, but no thanks for that Bridge to Nowhere up in Alaska.” If our state wanted a bridge, we were going to build it ourselves.

Watch it:

ThinkProgress has been keeping track of how many times the McCain campaign is repeating this lie. Palin’s comments today bring the number to 23 times:

The Wall Street Journal notes today that in August 2006, Palin said, “We need to come to the defense of Southeast Alaska when proposals are on the table like the bridge and not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project or any other into something that’s so negative.”
