"Inhofe runs campaign attack ad with ‘anti-gay overtones.’"

Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), who is up for re-election this year, is running a campaign attack ad that “contains anti-gay overtones, showing a wedding cake topped by two plastic grooms and a photo of [his opponent Democrat Andrew] Rice as a young man, curly haired and wearing a leather jacket.” Watch it:

Inhofe’s office has said he “does not hire openly gay staffers ‘due to the possibility of a conflict of agenda.'” Standing before a large photograph of his family on the Senate floor in 2006, Inhofe proudly declared that “in the recorded history of our family, we’ve never had a divorce or any kind of homosexual relationship.”
