New Virgil Goode ad portrays opponent with ‘dark’ skin and ‘bearded.’

Rep. Virgil Goode (R-VA) is out with a new ad that depicts his opponent, Tom Perriello, with a swarthy complexion, using a shadowy, grainy image of Perriello with a beard. As Open Left notes, the ad hints that Perriello’s “skin is dark, he’s bearded, and he’s a liberal who loves amnesty for illegals and gay marriage.” Watch the ad, side-by-side with a picture of Perriello:

Goode sparked controversy in 2006 with his anti-Muslim rhetoric. When Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) was elected to Congress, Goode wrote to his constituents: “If American citizens don’t wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration, there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran.”
