Who bought Palin’s clothes? McCain campaign and RNC play the blame game.

After Politico’s revealed recently that $150,000 was spent on Gov. Sarah Palin’s wardrobe, the McCain campaign and the RNC have been engaged in a blame game, trying to assign responsibility to each other for the decision. A quick recap:

palin6553.jpg“It was obviously the RNC’s call.” – McCain aide Nancy Pfotenhauer, 10/22

“They are not my property. Just like the lighting and the staging and everything else the RNC purchased.” – Palin, 10/26

“All the people I talk to say it’s Nicolle Wallace.” – Fox’s Fred Barnes, 10/26

“This was a coordinated expense that the campaign asked us to pay for.” – RNC Chairman Mike Duncan, 10/27

When asked on Meet the Press this weekend if the money spent on clothes was “a colossal mistake on the part of the RNC,” McCain did not deny that the RNC made the purchases.

Nicolle Wallace fires back at Barnes, saying he is “incorrect” that she charged the clothes to her card, and “incorrect that I went to any stores.”
