The House Select Committee on Global Warming held a hearing today on Bush’s last-minute attempts to weaken environmental regulations. Chairman Ed Markey (D-MA) commented on EPA head Stephen Johnson’s refusal to appear before Congress and recalled that, in the first six years of the Bush administration, neither Johnson nor his predecessor ever appeared before the House Energy and Commerce committee, even though it has legislative jurisdiction over the EPA. Markey then joked, “[I]t was the most successful witness protection program in the history of the United States.” Watch it:
