Last night, Rick Santelli — a former derivatives trader and current CNBC host who ranted against Obama’s housing plan — was scheduled to appear on The Daily Show. Host Jon Stewart reported that Santelli first accepted the invitation, but canceled on Friday. “Or I guess the phrase would be ‘bailed out,’” Stewart quipped. He then exhorted the crowd in a Santelli-like rant:
Hey! How many people would have liked to see Santelli come on this program!? Are you listening? Are you listening Rick Santelli!?
I have to say I find cheap populism oddly arousing.
Stewart proceeded to rip the CNBC network, cataloging its bad advice to investors in recent history. Watch it:
