Yesterday, Sen. Arlen Specter’s (PA) switch to the Democratic party was a hot topic on pretty much every Sunday morning talk show. Despite the discussions about the state of the GOP, RNC Chairman Michael Steele was nowhere to be seen. Why? The Baltimore Sun’s David Zurawik reports:
One Sunday morning show representative told me on background that Steele was passed over because there were questions as to how much power he still has or doesn’t have within the struggling GOP.
Earlier in the week Steele did appear on various cable shows to talk about Specter. On CNN he expressed his displeasure that Specter didn’t notify him in advance of his decision, saying, “I’m sure his mama didn’t raise him this way, and it’s a shame that he’s behaving this way today.”
