"Joe Wilson takes a shot at John Shimkus?"
This weekend, Rep. Joe “You Lie!” Wilson (R-SC) spoke to supporters at a rally in Aiken, SC. “I do want to be heard, and I will not be muzzled,” he told them. Defending his public outburst, Wilson explained that he had a “town hall moment,” but he’s “a southern gentleman” at heart. He then argued that, while screaming “you lie” at the President is unacceptable, there are worse forms of behavior:
But I was not so emotional that I departed the speech. I sat there respectfully I waited till the end of the speech; I departed in an orderly matter.
It appears Wilson is taking a subtle shot at his GOP colleague John Shimkus (R-IL). Shimkus stood up and walked out of Congress before Obama’s speech was over because he was “frustrated” and “fed up.”
