Introducing A New Comments Section

After longstanding and legitimate criticisms from many in our ThinkProgress community about the various inadequacies in our comments section, we are very excited to unveil a new commenting system today. We’re confident that the features of the new system provide our commenters with a better user experience.

You will now have four easy options to comment. Note: Your old log-in will no longer work. You must now sign on with your 1) Facebook username/password, 2) Twitter username/password, 3) an OpenID account (to learn more about OpenID, see here), or 4) a Disqus account, which you can establish here.

There are numerous features we’re excited about. At a most basic level, we will finally have threaded comments, which allows commenters to more easily respond to one other. Additionally, like the old system, commenters will be enabled to vote up comments that they like. And lastly, the new system will give the option for commenters to share more information about each other and with each other.

There is one drawback, unfortunately. In order to usher in the new system, the comments that were left on previous ThinkProgress posts will no longer be visible. But we believe that cost is far exceeded by the benefits.

We truly value our ThinkProgress community, and we’ve installed this new system in the hopes that you will want to visit our site more often. So give the system a try. And let us know what you think…in our new comments section!

By clicking and submitting a comment I acknowledge the ThinkProgress Privacy Policy and agree to the ThinkProgress Terms of Use. I understand that my comments are also being governed by Facebook, Yahoo, AOL, or Hotmail’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policies as applicable, which can be found here.
