Tea Party Rep. Allen West (R-FL) is unfazed by the prospect that the U.S. might default on its debt for the first time in history later this summer, even though experts agree the effects would be catastrophic for the American and global economies. Speaking with reporters at the Faith and Freedom Conference in Washington, D.C. this morning, West referenced a discredited assertion by financier Stanley Druckenmiller in the Wall Street Journal to claim that a short-term default would be a reasonable policy alternative:
