"Herman Cain: Obama ‘Was Raised In Kenya’"

In an interview with the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, surging GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain rejected the term “African-American” as an inappropriate “label.” Cain dismissed “African” as an accurate descriptor because “most of the ancestors that I can trace were born here in the United States Of America. […] I feel more of an affinity for America than I do for Africa.” The term, Cain implied, may be more appropriate for President Obama, who “is more of an international,” he said. “Look, he was raised in Kenya,” Cain said, “his mother was white from Kansas and her family had an influence on him, it’s true, but his dad was Kenyan.” For the record, Obama was born in Hawaii, spent four to five years in Indonesia, then returned to the United States to live with his maternal grandmother.
