McCain Warns GOP Against Obstructing Obama’s Nominees

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said last week that he has privately warned his fellow Republican senators to ease their obstruction of President Obama’s executive and judicial nominees, noting that it may come back to bite them if there is a Republican president. “I have talked to my colleagues,” McCain said. “For example, there is a candidate for the secretary of Commerce who wouldn’t have been my choice, OK? But the president deserves to have his nominee unless there is a compelling reason not to.” He added, “You better be careful that that may happen to you when you have a Republican president.” Indeed, Republicans have obstructed President Obama’s nominees to an unprecedented degree, creating dangerous vacancies in many government agencies and federal courts.
