AEI Forbids Reporters From Asking Herman Cain About Sexual Harrassment Allegations At Open Forum |
GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain is launching a media blitz today, the same day Politico reported on sexual harassment allegations against him that led to financial payouts. At his first public appearance today at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), Cain ducked reporters by entering through the parking garage. Though billing the event as an open “discussion with Herman Cain,” the conservative think tank is now restricting reporters from asking questions about anything other than his 999 plan. As AEI blogger Jim Pethokoukis states:
ABC reporter Jonathan Karl attempted to ask about the story, but Cain refuses to answer, responding, “I’m going by the ground rules my host has set.” Video will be posted shortly.
Cain also noted that on the first day of his administration, he plans to “take a nap.” It is unclear whether he meant on his first day as president or as president-elect.
According to Yahoo News reporter Chris Moody, AEI staff is not letting reporters out until Cain leaves. They are “blocking exits.”
