More than 100 events planned across Wisconsin last night marked the beginning of a campaign to recall Gov. Scott Walker (R). Activists have 60 days to collect the more than 540,000 signatures required — 25 percent of the number of people who voted in the last election — to get a recall election on the ballot next year. Only two governors have been successfully recalled in U.S. history, but organizers are optimistic. Conservatives are already rushing to Walker’s defense, with the Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity running ads supporting Walker and state Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R) saying Republicans may run “fake Democrats” in a potential primary to buy time. The progressive group One Wisconsin Now has launched the #OccupyWalker campaign “to publicize the disastrous policies of the pro-corporate, anti-middle class Scott Walker administration”:
