Ann Romney suggested today that the “real” version of her husband “is not” out yet, telling a radio program, “we better unzip him and let the real Mitt Romney out.”

In an interview with WBAL in Baltimore, Romney was asked if she understood why people think Mitt “comes off stiff” at times. “You know, it is so funny to me that that is the perception out there. Because he is funny, he is engaging, he is witty,” Ann Romney said. “Well, you know, I guess we better unzip him and let the real Mitt Romney out, because he is not!”

Romney has been battling charges that he’s a flip-flopper or somehow fake, and Ann’s comments likely won’t help. It comes just weeks after Romney’s senior campaign adviser invoked an Etch A Sketch when asked about how Romney might transition from the primary campaign to the general election.
