– Over the weekend, the Red Cross declared the conflict in Syria to be a civil war. Due to the change in status, Syrian combatants will now be subject to the Geneva Conventions, and breaches in international humanitarian law will lead to prosecution for war crimes.

– After the past few days have focused on questions surrounding Mitt Romney’s time at Bain Capital, the Romney campaign is demanding an apology from President Barack Obama for attacking Romney’s successful business career. The president maintains that Bain Capital is relevant to the presidential campaign, responding, “No, we will not apologize.”

Three times as many Asian-Americans are currently running for Congress in 2012 than in the past two elections.
