Morning Briefing: U.S. Ambassador To Libya Killed Following Unrest

- The U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three other American diplomats were reportedly killed in an attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi.

- Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS launched a new attack ad against former Gov. Tim Kaine (D-VA) — on September 11 — with a message that flatly contradicts the group’s earlier attacks in the same race:

- The “non-partisan” American Legislative Exchange Council will officially align with the House Republican Study Group to coordinate advocacy for corporate-backed conservative legislation, Salon reports.

- An analysis by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities shows that without the government safety net, the nation’s poverty rate would be much worse:
