"GOP Congressman Offers To Bake Obama Cookies If He Agrees To Change Obamacare"
A Republican congressman offered to bake President Obama cookies on Friday if he negotiates with Republicans to re-open the government and raise the nation’s debt ceiling.
Appearing on CNN, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) insisted that Senate Democrats and the president must accept changes in the Affordable Care Act and cuts to entitlement and discretionary spending, adding that she’ll throw in a sugary reward if he agrees to the GOP’s demands:
BLACKBURN: We wanted solutions. We wanted the Senate to work with us on the budget, on the CR, on the debt ceiling. We want them to work with us on getting this out of control spending under control.
WOLF BLITZER (HOST): I got to wrap it up. You just heard the president say he wants to negotiate. He wants to work with you on all of these issues.
BLACKBURN: Come on down. I’ll bake him cookies .
Government spending under Obama has grown at its slowest pace since the Eisenhower administration and under its current trajectory, non-defense discretionary spending — everything from education to food safety to transportation to housing to veterans’ benefits — will hit historic lows in the next decade. Congress has already enacted $2.4 trillion worth of austerity measures in the past two years, nearly all of it in the form of spending cuts.
