Supporters for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump hold signs during a South Carolina Republican primary night event Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, in Spartanburg, S.C.

Just a few minutes after polls in South Carolina closed, several media outlets reported that Donald Trump was the projected winner of the state’s primary. After an easy win in New Hampshire, Trump now has two of the three early primaries under his belt. Polling also suggests he’s the favorite to win next week’s caucus in Nevada.

Three-quarters of South Carolina Republicans in an NBC News exit poll said they supported temporarily banning Muslim non-citizens from the U.S., a proposal that Trump has made a centerpiece of his campaign.

An earlier poll indicated that South Carolina Republicans align with Trump on many of his other extreme positions.
