[...] My goal is to follow in the footsteps of a great man. I am not particularly concerned about the past anymore. Those of you who have known me in the past may or may not be surprised at the kind of person I intend to become. You are welcome to contact me about what you read or comment on it, but I certainly don’t feel the need anymore to hide this or that part of my life anymore. I intend to become involved in a church in my community. I have visited one that resonates with me, and now that the excitement of the past two months has died down, I intend to go back. I am volunteering to teach English to people who want to improve their job skills. This will help me improve my Spanish-speaking skills as well. I am volunteering on the Barbara Ann Radnofsky for U.S. Senate campaign. There were a lot of us fired up in 2004 to change things, where are all of us now? I’ve done the math. Texas is hardly a Republican stronghold. Every other state with urban areas like ours elects statewide Democrats. Democrats are going to start paying attention to their base again, and not taking it for granted. The pundits will shake their heads in wonder, and the Republicans will continue to try to mislead and lie with messages of fear and hatred. Meanwhile, those of us who decided to do something about corruption and wasteful spending will be busy changing and improving things. [...]
