Seriously, though, the president who invented the double-U turn on climate — who has been blocking real international goal-setting — said today,

Last week, the Department of Energy announced that in 2006, our carbon emissions decreased by 1.3 percent while our economy grew by 3.3 percent. This experience shows that a strong and growing economy can deliver both a better life for its people and a cleaner environment at the same time.
He coyly only took implicit, not explicit, credit for this, but either way it is bunk or dumb luck, take your pick.

I read that George Bush is indifferent to global warming; he just doesn’t care. And apparently Bush is focused more on Cheney’s interests in the energy industry. Probably both Bush and Cheney will ignore global warming… they don’t want to sign the Kyoto Protocol. Environmentalists will be angry at them, but then again much of the American public doesn’t care about climate change.
Myself, I can’t decide… depends whether global warming disasters will happen soon, or in 20 years or 100 years… who knows…

Yup, polar bears really do have purple tongues. Asian bears are the only mammals that do have purple (instead of pink) tongues – as much a peculiarity of the mongolian-tibetan area as marsupials are to Australia. And, as ‘proof’ of continental drift, you may often notice a lot of North American Grizzlies still have purple spotted tongues too!
