I’m sorry I didn’t post this sooner, but the Senate Energy Committee Hearing web site left the impression that this was not going to be webcast. But you can hear the hearing here (click on “Live Webcast“).
This hearing was motivated in large part by the interest in concentrated solar of Sen. Sander (I-VT), which is doubly impressive because there isn’t much CSP potential in VT.
Sanders says he will work to reverse the BLM moratorium on new solar facility siting, — and then he complained that only two people at BLM are reviewing the hundred and 50 or so existing applications. Kudos to Sanders.

I would like Rep. Sanders to focus on how to get the desert CSP to consumers in Vermont.
CSP -> Vermont may not be the most efficient way to power the Northeast grid.
Wind, biomass, tidal, and wave are closer at hand.
Add in some PV solar for the summer AC load that will be increasing….
btw, you heard the BLM solar “new application moratorium” decision was reversed right? They will continue to accept new applications while working on the Programmatic EIS.
I guess some folks high up the chain thought it didn’t look so good to put the kibosh on solar while pushing for more drilling.
