U.N. ambassador John Bolton has repeatedly said that he isn’t focused on his confirmation prospects. When asked on Nov. 8 by a reporter, Bolton replied, “You know, I don’t comment on political developments and I’ve said repeatedly I don’t comment on my own situation.”
But now that his nomination is essentially dead, Bolton is going on a full-court press to save his job. Over the weekend, he reportedly left New York and returned to Washington “for a series of weekend meetings with key U.S. senators over his stalled nomination.” Last night on CNN, Bolton told Lou Dobbs that he’s confident about his chances in the Senate. Watch it:
Transcript:
BOLTON: Well, the White House is continuing to search for ways to get the nomination to the floor of the Senate and I think we’ve believed for 18 months now that if I could get a straight up or down vote on the Senate floor, I’d be confirmed. So I’m glad that they’re continuing to push for it. I’d certainly like that vote.
