The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that the military is proposing that President Obama wait to withdraw any substantial amount of U.S. troops from Afghanistan until fall 2012. The National Journal reports today that the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan Gen. David Petraeus would support that decision. Petraeus “would endorse a presidential announcement that the 30,000 troops committed as part of a 2009 surge to the country would be back home by end of 2012, military and administration officials tell National Journal.”
