Health care for returning veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan could cost anywhere from $40 to $55 billion dollars over the next 10 years, according to testimony submitted to the Senate Committee on Veteran’s Affairs by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) today. The CBO noted that health care costs for other veterans tend to be higher because those returning from ongoing conflicts are generally younger and in better health, but that could change as today’s veterans age.
