"Coming Soon: Wearing Shoes Through Airport Security"
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told Politico that Americans will be soon be able to again wear their shoes through airport security. “We are moving towards an intelligence and risk-based approach to how we screen,” she said. “I think one of the first things you will see over time is the ability to keep your shoes on.” Napolitano added that the restrictions on liquids are unlikely to be lifted anytime soon. She said extra security measures were in place for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, but that the precautions were “not because there’s a specific, credible threat.”
