Mullen Spokesman: U.S. ‘On Track’ To Withdraw All Troops From Iraq ‘By The End Of The Year’

Today at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Adm. Mike Mullen said the U.S. force levels in Iraq would be down to 30,000 by the end of the month but his spokesman later corrected the figure, saying that the number is closer to 40,000. “The larger point” that Mullen made, said Capt. John Kirby according to the AP, “is still valid: We are on track to meet the president’s goal of withdrawing all American troops from Iraq by the end of the year.”
