The move marks “the end of more than two decades when officers whose careers were born in Vietnam combat led the military,” Politico’s Charles Hobkinson notes. Outgoing chairman Adm. Mike Mullen had some advice for Dempsey: President Obama “really likes it when you laugh at his jokes. It makes the meeting go better.”
