Ros-Lehtinen Ends Hold On U.S. Aid To Palestinians

After placing an “informational hold” on U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA), House Foreign Affairs chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) dropped her objections today, clearing the way for Palestinians to receive some $200 million in aid. Ros-Lehtinen, one of Congress’ most outspoken pro-Israel hawks, informed the administration this summer that she was blocking the funds in order to get certification that the aid was in the U.S.’s national security interest, and that Israel did not object. A spokesperson for the committee said that after the Obama administration provided about 1,000 pages of documents, Ros-Lehtenen subsequently removed her hold. (HT: Hussein Ibish)
